We started by carefully protecting the Karndean flooring with protective boards to ensure it remained in perfect condition throughout the renovation. Our team then completed the remaining strip-out work, removing old tiles and pipework to prepare the space.
One of the key challenges was relocating a radiator. Rather than having exposed pipes, we chased them into the walls for a cleaner, more streamlined look. We also took care of all electrical requirements, adding new outlets where needed, relocating existing ones for better functionality, and installing dedicated supplies for their new appliances.
The walls needed some attention, too. We applied bonding agents where necessary and gave three walls a fresh skim coat of plaster to create the perfect smooth surface for decorating.
Perhaps the most satisfying aspect of this project was solving the long-standing water pressure problems. Previous plumbers had installed a pump under the sink as a temporary fix, but this hadn’t properly addressed the issue. Our team removed this pump, completely reconfigured the pipework correctly, and finally resolved the pressure issues that had been frustrating the family for years.
The New Kitchen
For the kitchen itself, we installed beautiful bespoke units from CEK paired with high-quality NEFF appliances. To minimise disruption to family life, we initially fitted temporary worktops so they could use their kitchen while waiting for the custom quartz worktops to be made.
About a week later, after templating and fabrication, we returned to install the stunning quartz worktops. We also added matching quartz window sills – a small detail that made a big difference to the overall look and feel of the space.
The finishing touches included new skirting boards throughout, a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling and walls (starting with a mist coat for the best finish), and a thorough clean-up before we handed the kitchen back to the delighted family.
